The school development is driven by the School Development Plan. This is a document which sets out the actions which need to be taken in order to improve the school and to drive it to a ‘Good’ school at the earliest opportunity and to reach the aspiration of becoming an outstanding school within 5 years.
The development plan is a working document which has actions under the three priorities highlighted in the Ofsted Inspection of the school undertaken in September 2014, i.e:
Priority 1: Improve the quality of teaching and learning so that it is consistently good and enables all students, in all subjects, to be challenged in their learning and reach their full potential
Priority 2: Improve students’ behaviour and safety
Priority 3: Improve the effectiveness of leadership and management including the governing body
The school’s progress under each priority is monitored as a standing item on each Governing Body meeting, through Governor Visits to school, and externally through 6 weekly meetings with the Local Authority and termly visits by Mr. Brian Blake, Her Majesties Inspector of Schools.
